There was a lot of traffic in the gap, as the Green Mountain Stage Race bicycle race ran Stage 2 through the gap and the Rolling Thru Vermont tour, day 1 was also run through the gap.
The Green Mountain Stage Race normally uses a routes in the Mad River Valley and Route 100, but this year due to hurricane Irene damage, had to use routes through Hinesburg, Huntington and Richmond. Saturday's stage was the second stage of the four day race which takes place every year on Labor Day weekend.
The Rolling Thru Vermont tour is an all-inclusive, three day guided tour of Vermont, run by Americade.
