David Pearson, owner of Green Mountain Harley Davidson in Essex Junction, gave a brief history of the Moose Foundation to a group of seventy riders before the eighth annual running of the Moose Ride Saturday. The ride raises money for the Foundation, whose purpose is to help injured motorcyclists.
“The Moose Ride will always be a free ride”, Pearson said. “We’ve found that people actually give a little more when you open the ride to all and don’t charge for the ride.”
The ride raised $4,100 Saturday, including a $2,500 donation by an anonymous donor.
The Moose Foundation helps injured motorcyclists by paying bills and providing direct help to riders. To qualify for assistance, a rider must live in Vermont or be injured in Vermont. For more information, see the foundation’s Facebook page.
