The Community High School of Vermont donated the Harley Time project bike to the Moose Foundation at a celebration BBQ and donation ceremony, on Thursday May 27th at Oakledge Park in Burlington. The Moose Foundation will raffle the bike and use the proceeds to partially fund next year’s Harley Time program. Harley Time is a program that combines high school classes with hands on motorcycle bike building making classes relevant to students who have been in the corrections system.
The bike is a 1986 Harley Softail that has been completely refurbished. The students stripped the bike to it’s frame, removing all components. Each part was cleaned and assessed. Parts were repaired or replaced as needed.
The bike is painted in a stunning “root-beer” orange with cream accents. The motor and exhaust are flat black. Parts were painted or powder coated to fit the scheme. The paint work was done by Randy Murray of Queen City Customs and Chris Washburn of Washburn’s Automotive in Williston. Tommy Graves Customs did the powder coating. The seat is a luxurious brown leather with cream piping, done by Tim Muir .
Only 200 raffle tickets will be sold. Tickets can be purchased at Green Mountain Harley Davidson in Essex Junction for $50.
All work was done under the supervision of Green Mountain Harley Davidson technicians Keith Champine and Chris Barry. Green Mountain Harley Parts and Service Manager, Mike Alber was instrumental in coordinating resources for the project.
