First Annual Ride for the Homeless

The First Annual Ride for the Homeless to benefit the Burlington Emergency Shelter is Sunday, September 19th. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at Green Mountain Harley Davidson in Essex Junction. The three-hour ride begins at 10:30 and will tour the Smugglers Notch region, with several rest stops en route. There will be a BBQ lunch catered by Lost Nations Smoke Co. following the ride, t-shirts, giveaways and raffles.
All pre-registrants are entered into a drawing to win heated winter storage at Raspberry Farm LLC in Milton Vermont (valued at $300). The pre-registration deadline is Wednesday, September 1. To pre-register, complete the registration form and mail it to: BES 89 North Street, Burlington VT 05401-5130 with a check for the appropriate amount.
The Burlington Emergency Shelter is a non-profit organization that provides temporary shelter while helping residents find permanent housing and employment. Their emphasis is building self-esteem and rehabilitation. They also assist people in locating mental and physical health services.
A donation of $35 per rider and $20 per passenger includes the ride, BBQ lunch and a t-shirt. Non-riders can participate in the lunch for a $12 donation and children are $4.
