The Northeast is finally getting its own Adventure bike motorcycle rally! DirtDaze the Adventure Bike Rally is coming to the Painted Pony Rodeo grounds in Lake Luzerne, NY (just outside of Lake George), June 7th-10th. The event promises great riding in the Adirondacks and Vermont, instruction by top professional riders, demos rides from BMW, Honda, Yamaha, Ducati, Zero, Beta, Christini and a chance to meet likeminded riders.
Rider on an MotoVermont guided tour
Riding in the Adirondacks is known for its tremendous beauty and open roads and DirtDaze riders will have plenty of opportunities to sample the best of it. Rally participants will get route sheets for self-guided rides with a mixture of dirt and pavement.
Moto Vermont will guide one featured ride through Vermont on terrain that includes technical climbs, steep descents, water crossings, mud and all-round fun. This ride includes a lunch stop at a Hodaka motorcycle museum, where you’ll eat fresh made pastas, salads and local Italian sausages that can only be described as deliziosa!
World Champion stunt rider and adventure bike enthusiast Chris “Teach” McNeil will perform, demonstrating just how agile a BMW GS can be in the right hands.
Eight times National Enduro Champion and KTM Professional rider Jimmy Lewis is offering a sampling of his renowned Jimmy Lewis Off-Road Riding School. Jimmy’s credits include 4 Gold Medals at the International Six Day Enduro and winning the Baja 1000. Riders can choose a two hour introductory class or a more comprehensive four hour class.
Jimmy Lewis on Off-Road training
Jimmy will be assisted by his highly capable and qualified spouse, Heather Lewis. Heather has been riding and racing in the dirt since an early age is an expert rider. Her race wins include the treacherous Tecate Hare Scrambles. She probably would have more race wins except for her desire to help riders improve sometimes gets in the way of being a bloodthirsty competitor.
Eight-time National Enduro champion, Mike Lafferty is offering a two hour advanced training session where riders will have an opportunity to sharpen their skills under the tutelage of a rider who has 69 National Enduro Championship wins.
All of this training will be helpful if you plan on riding the onsite obstacle course. The course will challenge riders and there will be prizes for top finishers.
There will be onsite vendor displays and participants will also have an opportunity to access the Americade rally expo and demos.
On-site camping is available, along with food and local craft beer. This will give riders a chance to hang out and meet at nightly bonfires. On Saturday night there is a party with food, music and awards.
Registration for the event is now open at the DirtDaze website.
